Rijk Magazine

For Stichting RIJK I developed and designed the concept of this Corporate Magazine. Stichting RIJK is a purchase organisation for several municipalities in the Netherlands. Stichting RIJK wanted to show their stakeholders what their added value is. We choose to make a magazine with a relevant theme. This theme is Sustainable Public Procurement (in Dutch: Maatschappelijk Verantwoord Inkopen). This magazine has circulation of 1000 and is spread among the relevant persons within the municipalities of Stichting Rijk. The magazine is eco-printed certificatied which means it is printed in the most …

Don’t Walk Installation for Amsterdam Light Festival

This is my application for the Amsterdam Light Festival 2018. This year I was not selected to go through the second round. The theme for 2018 is ‘The Medium is the Message. Below you can read the description of my light installation called ‘Don’t Walk’. Do you dare to walk through or will you wait and obey? In the middle of the walkway two classic pedestrian traffic lights are erected. The crosswalk is visualized by red lights on the floor.  There is no traffic that needs to be regulated. The …

Brand Style Guide ‘Klimaatgesprekken’

For the Dutch Carbon Conversations I made this Brand Style Guide. I already did some work for them but their branding was kind of all over the place. This made it harder for me to work for them. So I took the initiative to make a brand guide for them. A brand guide consists of at least six elements: The Story, The Logo, The Colours, Typography,  Images and tone of voice. We discussed all these items and made a comprehensive Brand Style Guide which you can download and read by …

Disneyland Ride Competition: The Soap Box Race

My son is an avid Donald Duck Magazine reader. It is one of the most popular magazines in The Netherlands, and still going strong after 65 years. My dad read the Donald Duck, I read it and now my son is reading it. They had a competition to celebrate their 65th birthday. You could win a trip to Disneyland Paris for 65 persons. You had to come up with a ride for Disneryland Paris. My son Job came with the idea of a soapbox race. We discussed if he should …

Klimaatgesprekken Flyer

This is a flyer I designed for the Dutch Carbon Conversations.  This cartoon styled figure wants to have a lower impact on the climate and doubts what is the better choice: Chicken or Cheese? While cheese is the vegetarian choice, chicken has way less impact on the climate then cheese. Cows produce a lot of methane and use a lot of water. Chickens are very efficient in turning their food into meat. The character is rendered in a 3d engine. I modelled the cheese and the chicken. The character was …

Rings

Sometimes I am just inspired by a certain shape. In this case it is rings. I will just make a series of visuals with rings. Exploring different techniques and styles. This one is inspired by the recent solar eclips.   These stars have a seventies hand drawn vibe.   An eye in the distance, up close little spikes.

Ball in a cup Loop

I made this looping animation of a ball in a cup. The ball makes the wood bounce a bit. I posted this animation on reddit. A few people thought it was real and wondered how this was possible. That was a fun reaction to get. Wait a minute for it to load (is 17mb). I tried several gif makers but or the files became large or cut of some of the final frames making the loop less smooth. So I just posted the whole mp4 here.

The Cost of 3d Artwork

I would happily make some artwork on commission. My artwork can be used as an illustration in a magazine, book or website.  Al my artwork is digitally made. It is made on my computer in a virtual 3d photo studio. I call my work often 3d artwork, because the virtual photo studio enables me to work in 3d space. This give a lot of flexibility in changing the scene. Objects can be placed in the scene with ease. Camera lenses and perspective can be changed in a second. But maybe …

Hydra Desk Lamp

The hydra desk Lamp is inspired by the mythology of the many headed water snake called Hydra.  The desk lamp would be made of a flexible metal which can be bend in all directions. You could even bend it around a pole. The metal is sturdy enough to carry the weight of 3 bulbs without flexing. The 3 bulbs could also be bend in different directions providing extra flexibility when necessary.  The red wire is a resemblance of a snake tongue or poisonous tail. The length of this lamp would …
