Acorn Lamp Design

This is a study for an acorn shaped lamp design. This design will be made of glass and wood. The wood bottom resembles the acorn cap. The acorn cap has a bark structure on the outside. The glass resembles the nut. The glass consists of two parts a milk white part that diffuses the light and a transparant part that aims the light. The bottom of the lamp should be a made flat so the lamp can stand on its own. The diameter of acorn lamp would be about 20cm. …

The design process of the Estis lamp

My design process flows from an initial idea and then creating an image of how I visualize the product on my computer. Next, the question arises: Can the design I’ve visualized be made? A computer offers unlimited creative freedom, but in the real physical world there are many restrictions. This was the case as I began to create the “Estis Leg Lamp.” I continually thought up ideas for revamping the human body into some sort of design. But I was never actually able to come up with a concrete concept. …

Photoshoot of the Legshaped Design Lamp ‘Estis’

Today we shot the interior pictures of the legshaped design lamp ‘Estis’. Everything came together to let my lamp shine. My good friend Jorrit Timmermans was willing to make these beautiful pictures. And my parents were willing to lend their house and interior for the shoot (sorry mum & dad for the big scratch on the floor). You can probably imagine that it took a while to make these pictures. Figuring out lighting and composition is no easy feat. We were there early in the morning to get the best …

Widescreen Wallpapers

A new computer screen deserves a few new widescreen wallpapers. So I made a few. If you have a 21: 9 yourself you can use it freely. The first is a still life with a skull. It is inspired by ‘Vanitas‘ which means something like temporary or transient. The second are marbles in a bowl. If you look closely you can see the edges of the scale plus the lights that provide the lighting. The last one is an ak47 with a tulip in it. An image that must stand …

Copper Mesh Hand Lamp

This lamp made of copper wire keeps the light in the palm of his hand. The light is sacred object that has to be carried upwards. The arms comes out of nothing, just like light, it pops into existence. The height of this lamp would be about 90cm.

Toon Series

I made a series of renders which look like they are drawn. Most of the images have some sort of contrast between them like open and closed. I had an idea to make a game with them. But since that project is on a hold for the moment I can easily share them. I used the images also for a few shirt designs.

Rainbow Neon

I love neon. Neon light fascinates me. I have a Pinterest page where I collect the most beautiful Neons. This time I wanted to make a combination of Neon and the colors of the rainbow. It looks rather trippy. In addition, the separate visual is also very successful. I now have it as a wallpaper on my computer and the colors are flying around my ears. It also depends very much on whether you look from close or far. Sometimes the image makes my eyes turn around, sometimes it looks like …

Canal

I was working on a visual about a canal in the Netherlands. During the creation I tried various things. I look at the materials (textures) that I can use, which camera angle, light, etc. The idea is to have a canal that already contains water but you can also see the bottom. This process is always a bit messy. It is especially difficult to find the right materials in one go so that it has the right appearance. Nevertheless, something exciting always happens. This time too. This visual gives me …

Dutch Light

I was working on an illustration for a friend. I came up with the idea of doing something with clouds. I live on the fifth floor and from my house I can see the sky splendor every day. I also find the old masters and their clouds with the ‘Dutch light‘ always very beautiful. So I have made an attempt to capture that Dutch light. In addition, there is the contrast of the American Billboard, which calls you with big screaming letters. From the billboard there is also a beam …
